SOUTHWEST JUNIOR HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS - BUNBURY CARNIVAL 2021
June Long Weekend: Saturday 5 June - Monday 7 June 2021
It's back and it's now time to register!! Nearly 30 years on, Bunbury - with it's 14 grass fields and two turf areas - will again host arguably the bissest carnival in the Southern Hemisphere, over the WA Day Long Weekend.
In 2019, 138 teams (alomst 1,800 players) took part in 470 games, across 12 divisions over 3 days. Teams came from as far as Esperance to attend. Unfortunately, last year the carnival had to be cancelled due to COVID.
The Southwest Smarter Than Smoking Junior Championships allows age groups 5/6, 7/8 and 9/10 to enter championshop divisions as well as carnival divisions.
Team can play up to 8 games over the weekend, consisting of 2 x 15 min halves, played on both grass and turf, finishing with a crossover and/or finals games on the last day (Monday). Games start early on the Saturday Morning.
Every year Fremantle Cockburn sends teams to take part in this carnival. It is lots of fund and a great opportunity for kids to play HOCKEY, socialise and team build. We are looking to send a girls and boys team all age groups. If we dont get the numbers in any age group we will look at combining girls and boys or age groups.
If you are interested please register before MONDAY 3RD MAY 2021. As organisers have restrictions on the number of team that can be nominated. If team fill prior to this date we will notify parents that the tean is full and start a waitlist.
COST - We will let you know the cost once re receive the costings from the Carnival Organisers. Final Costs will be dependant on team numbers and will inclide the payment of an umpire.
UMPIRES - Older players/siblings are encourgage to umpire games for the younger team, where fixtures allow. Umpires are paid $15 per game. If you are interested in umpiring please email Chris Truscott on juniorvp@freohockey.com
ACCOMMODATION - Affordable accommoation is at a premium in Bunbury over this weekend so if you are interest in going you are encouraged to arrange somewhere to stay as soon as possible. Fremantle families have often stayed at The Lighthouse Hotel but there are other options if you book early.
