Summer Hockey is just around the corner and we have another packed schedule to keep you moving in the off-season, with something for everyone this Summer at The Nest!

Monday Night 50’s : Starting at 6.30pm on Monday 30th September through to Monday 16th December (12 weeks total). 11-a-side Men’s Over 50’s competition. There will be up to 7 sides accepted in to this competition.

Tuesday Fast 5’s : Games from 6pm, running from Tuesday 15th October to Tuesday 10th December (9 weeks). Senior & Masters Men’s 5-a-side competitions, played on quarters, across field. This is the night for players 15yrs + years to join in the respective men’s games. Team nominations.

Wednesday Women's Open : A new dedicated women's competition will get under way on Wednesday 16th October at 6.30pm.  Older juniors, seniors and masters all welcome - one off season payment per player.  Game format will be decided upon number of individual nominations received. Running for 9 weeks through til Wednesday 11th December.

Thursday Family 7’s : Starting on Thursday 17th October, fun for all the family and all abilities. Grandparents, mums, dads, aunties, uncles and the kids, all welcome for these 7-a-side third field games. You just need to know how to hold the stick the right way up! Team nominations.

Friday Mixed 11’s : Getting underway on Friday 18th October at 6.15pm (9 weeks), full field 11-a-side mixed Hockey. Team nominations.

Individual Registration/Player Insurance

While we know most participants in these competitions also partake in the winter season and therefore are covered for insurance under the Hockey Australia Levy, there are a number of new participants who will be looking to sign up for the summer season.

New players will need to register through our club website and choose the relevant Summer/Indoor category to pay the appropriate levy fee. (https://www.freohockey.com/registration/ choose the appropriate new or returning button).

Please note: If members are registering for a summer/indoor competition that starts before 31/12/24, you will be covered for the remainder of that competition. If the summer/indoor competition starts in 2025, you will have to pay the full HA Levy fee for 2025. Remembering that it will cover you for a full calendar year, so you will have access to other competitions and services in that time (i.e. 2025 Winter season, 2025 Summer/Indoor season).

Rules

Monday Night Men's 50's

Full field, proper Hockey, male players 48yrs + eligible to play.  Normal FIH Rules apply. Games will be played full field in 2 x 25 minute halves (5 min break). Games commence at 6.30pm.

Fast 5’s

As in previous years, games will be 5-a-side, quarter fields. 25 minutes each way with a 5 minute break. No raised balls, no hitting. Goals can be scored from anywhere. Goalkeepers are permitted, but are included as part of the 5 players. Players can raise the ball at goals if a GK is included, but it must be clear of ALL field players. Unlimited substitutions are allowed. All other FIH rules apply. Games commence at 6pm.

Thursday Night 7’s

Games will be 7-a-side, with the turf split in to 3rds and a minimum of 3 junior players must be on the field at all times. 25 minutes each way with a 5 minute break. No raised balls, no hitting. Goals can be scored from anywhere. Goalkeepers are permitted, but are included as part of the 7 players. Players can raise the ball at goals if a GK is included, but it must be clear of ALL field players. Unlimited substitutions are allowed. All other FIH rules apply. Games commence at 6pm.

Friday Mixed 11’s

Full field, proper Hockey, mixed gender sides, requiring a balance during games. Normal FIH Rules apply. Games will be played full field in 2 x 30 minute halves (5 min break). Teams must have 5 Males & 5 Females on field (or a maximum of 5 males, Goal Keepers can be either gender), First shot at penalty corners is to be taken by a female player. Umpires are encouraged to penalise players for displays of 'excessive skill'. Games commence at 6.15pm.

Registration, Pricing & Payment

50% of the season's fee payment must be made prior to your first game, by direct deposit or via CC at the bar, with the balance by the 5th round of games. Payments can be made to Acct Name: Fremantle Cockburn Hockey Club / Bank: Westpac BSB: 036000 / Acc No: 989378. All team payments are inclusive of registration, turf hire and umpires (Ex Mon 50's). If proof of payment(s) are not received prior to the 1st and 6th games your team will not be able to take the field.
